DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY

Regional School Unit #57 seeks a dynamic and innovative school leader to serve as our Director of Technology. The selected candidate will be responsible for the planning, development, installation, implementation, and operation of our comprehensive Information Technology portfolio. Terms of Employment:
Salary, work year, and working conditions will be established by the RSU 57 School Board.

OVERVIEW:

The Director of Technology provides leadership in identifying, assessing, and managing technology needs for the school district; directs, coordinates, supervises, facilitates, and performs all tasks and elements needed to effect comprehensive integration of appropriate technology into every facet of operations (i.e.: reliability of technology systems, robust performance, and security of the network, etc.); and contributes to the infusion of educational technology into classrooms in collaboration with the school administrators. The Director of Technology accomplishes this by providing highly motivated, professional leadership in all areas of technology planning and technology resource management; and serves as an integral member of the school district's leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Master's Degree in Information Technology, School Administration, or equivalent experience and background.

Experience as a school administrator or teacher is preferred.

Thorough knowledge of the techniques and concepts used in designing and creating data structures and procedures to ensure data security, data back-ups, system updates, and recovery.

Thorough knowledge of project management and budgeting for information technology.

Thorough knowledge of information technology systems and their integration.

Knowledge of and ability to work successfully in a PK-12 school environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Establish the vision and goals for the district's information technology landscape, including big-picture perspectives on the meaningful and effective uses of technology in an educational environment.

Prepare, implement, and manage the technology budget.

Manage the maintenance, monitoring, and inventory of all instructional and logistical information technology (servers, networking, cabling, telephone, cloud, devices, etc.).

Manage, implement, and/or enforce all cyber security policies and procedures in accordance with district vision and school board policies.

Manage the district student information system (currently Synergy).

Facilitate state-mandated student count procedures.

Coordinate the acquisition of hardware and software for educational and management functions.

Manage the creation, implementation, and enforcement of policies and educational programs relating to the social, legal, and ethical issues related to technology use throughout the district.

Facilitate the support of multiple learning management system platforms in order to meet the instructional goals of the district.

Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
