Job Title: Director of Fine and Performing Arts
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Schools
Department: Fine and Performing Arts, Grades K-12
Work Year:
204 days (184 Unit A required days + 20 additional work days)
* Many night obligations for performances and events, which are offset by flexible scheduling
Start Date: August 3, 2026 - Last day of school + 5 additional work days, year one
Following years: two weeks prior to Unit A + 10 additional work days
Compensation: $125,000-$135,000
FLSA Status: Exempt, non-union

Essential functions include the educational development and delivery curriculum as well as the supervision and evaluation of the teaching staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Education: Master's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field
- Professional Certification:DESE license: Supervisor/Director-Core (Arts)
- Teaching Experience: At least 5 years art or music teaching experience
- Administrative Experience: At least 3 years administrative experience strongly preferred
- CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS background checks per 603 CMR 51.00

CENTRAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):- Plan, implement and evaluate all Fine and Performing Arts curriculum
- Develop and execute a plan of yearly program objectives
- Manage and evaluate Fine and Performing Arts course and program offerings
- With school principals, facilitate the recruitment, selection and hiring of all Fine and Performing Arts staff
- Supervise and evaluate all Fine and Performing Arts staff
- Lead department meetings and activities, which build and maintain a culture of professional collaboration
- Plan and provide professional development for the faculty
- In collaboration with principals and/or assistant principals, assign staffing and teaching responsibilities
- Prepare and administer the Fine and Performing Arts program budget and, as required and requested, generate departmental budgetary reports
- Approve and maintain district calendar of school-related performances and exhibitions
- Manage building permits for outside organizations utilizing performance spaces
- Meet with staff to coordinate and arrange student placements, teacher assignments, and student and teacher schedules
- Oversee hiring and supervision of stipend-related staff positions within the Fine & Performing Arts Department
- With the department staff, manage the selection, purchase and distribution of departmental supplies and equipment
- Maintain effective communication and public relations regarding the Fine and Performing Arts programs within the school community and between the school system and the town of Westborough
- Keep abreast of innovative Fine and Performing Arts teaching techniques, programs, and research through participation in professional organizations and activities
- Monitor equipment maintenance and safety issues in Fine and Performing Arts classrooms and venues
- Attend and support departmental activities, including events and performances which occur during the evenings and on weekends
- All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Schools
Supervisory Responsibilities:Directly supervises and evaluates all District Fine and Performing Arts staff members.
Compensation:Salary is commensurate with experience and as determined by the Superintendent of Schools.
