POSITION TITLE: ASSOCIATE IV - SEC HS REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL

OVERTIME STATUS: NONEXEMPT PAY GRADE: 108

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs intermediate clerical and technical work requiring a qualified typist; prepares and maintain fiscal and related records; serves as clerical support in a junior high school special education facility; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Principal or Principal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Serving as primary clerical support to the Principal and staff; serving as school bookkeeper, receptionist and telephone operator; preparing and maintaining files and records; assisting students and teachers.
  • Receives, accounts for, receipts and deposits funds, reconciles collections with teachers' logs;
  • Reconciles bank statements, issues purchase requisitions and purchase orders;
  • Maintains catalogs, profiles, calendars, demographics, schedules, attendance and grade records on computer;
  • Prepares files and records for entering and withdrawing students;
  • Writes absentee and tardy slips, issues passes;
  • Handles a variety of routine technical and administrative assignments;
  • Composes and types letters and memoranda in conformance with school policies or from brief instructions;
  • Sets up and maintains office procedures and filing systems;
  • Meets and screens visitors, answers telephone and processes mail;
  • Maintains registers, attendance and grade records and reports, enters data into computer;
  • Assists with scheduling substitutes, maintains attendance, personnel and payroll records;
  • Types letters and memos, reports, bulletins, agendas, invoices, schedules, manuals, student files and records;
  • Performs related tasks as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment; general knowledge of school system routine and procedures; general knowledge of bookkeeping terminology, methods and procedures; general knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; thorough knowledge of personnel procedures, financial record keeping and banking procedures; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to work under pressure; ability to organize and perform work independently; ability to type, take and transcribe dictation accurately at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to prepare and maintain computerized records and systems; ability to meet the public effectively; ability to plan and supervise the work of others.

This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and fingering; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by various courses in business, typing, data processing and bookkeeping and considerable experience in clerical and/or accounting work.
