Pay rate: Per negotiated teacher's contract + Coordinator Stipend + 10 extra days

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain compliance with State and Federal special education statues in all paperwork and processes

Be resourceful, creative and forward thinking in leading the department to develop and implement new learning opportunities that improve student achievement and well-being for students with disabilities

Communicate, collaborate and problem solve effectively with students, families and staff

Facilitate opportunities for professional development to faculty and administration on such topics as applicable laws and regulations and procedures, effective teaching and learning strategies for special education students, student engagement and other pertinent topics

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications -

Master's Degree in Special Education

NH certification or certifiable in Special Education

Administration certification preferred

Minimum of 3 years of experience in special education programs

Must meet Highly Qualified Teacher requirements

Working knowledge of special education laws and procedures

Experience with conducting and interpreting evaluations

Strong communication/collaboration skills

Ability to collaborate and effectively problem solve with students, families and staff

Knowledge of differentiating instruction an meeting the needs of diverse learners

Facilitate opportunities for professional development to faculty and administration regarding applicable laws, regulations and procedures, effective teaching and learning strategies for special education students, student engagement and other pertinent topics
