CLAIR COUNTY TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTERCYBERSECURITY INSTRUCTOR POSITION SUMMARY: The Cybersecurity Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality, industry-aligned instruction in Information Technology and Cybersecurity to 11th and 12th-grade students. This position prepares students for postsecondary education, industry certifications, and careers in the rapidly evolving information technology and cybersecurity fields.
Instruction includes foundational IT concepts during the first year of the program, followed by advanced cybersecurity specialization in the second year. The instructor provides both classroom and hands-on laboratory experiences, emphasizing technical knowledge, problem-solving, professional skills, and real-world application.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: The ideal candidate will possess a Michigan secondary CTE teaching certificate in 11.0901 Computer Systems, Networking, and Telecommunications.
Experience: Two or more years (4,000 hours) of recent relevant work experience. If not already certified, must begin a CTE teacher training program within the first 3 years of employment.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Design and implement competency-based learning experiences aligned with state and industry standards, including instruction in Computer hardware and operating systems, Networking fundamentals, switching, and routing, Cybersecurity principles and practices, Linux and server operating systems, System administration, and infrastructure support.
Industry certification preparation, including CompTIA A+, Linux+, Network+, and related credentials.
Integrate career-ready practices, including problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and workplace professionalism.
Assist students in planning their occupational and training objectives.
Deliver curriculum that integrates academic skills into individualized instruction.
Adapt the instructional process and teaching style to meet the needs of students with special needs.
Manage the learning environment by developing, scheduling, and delivering relevant learning activities; diagnosing learning difficulties; providing corrective action; and monitoring and reporting student progress.
Maintain student attendance and progress records; report data as required.
RELATED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist students in seeking and retaining employment related to their training.
Work cooperatively and effectively with St. Clair TEC staff and administration.
Manage student behaviors by developing, implementing, and maintaining a classroom management plan.
Maintain an educational laboratory and equipment in a manner that continuously provides an effective instructional environment.
Assist in maintaining an active advisory committee.
Work cooperatively with parents and staff of local school districts. Maintain good public relations with the community at large.
Take an active role in recruiting new students.
Follow procedures and policies as set forth in the staff handbook, student handbook, and board of education policy manual.
