Dean of Students High School

Position Overview
The Dean of Students will serve as a key member of the administrative team, with primary
responsibility for attendance management, chronic absenteeism intervention, and truancy
prevention. This position will also function as the school's McKinney-Vento liaison and
collaborate with administration on student behavioral and disciplinary matters.

Primary Responsibilities

- Attendance & Truancy Management: Monitor student attendance patterns, identify
chronic absenteeism, implement intervention strategies, and coordinate truancy
prevention efforts
- McKinney-Vento Liaison: Identify and support homeless and housing-insecure
students; ensure compliance with McKinney-Vento Act requirements; coordinate
resources and services
- Student Discipline: Partner with administrative team to investigate behavioral
incidents, implement appropriate consequences, and maintain consistent discipline
policies
- Family & Community Engagement: Communicate with families regarding
attendance concerns; facilitate support services and community partnerships
-Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records of attendance
interventions, disciplinary actions, and student support services
- After School Hours: Assist with the supervision at sporting events, dances, and other
events as requested.

Qualifications
Required:
-Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years of experience in education (classroom teaching, counseling, or school
administration)
-Strong communication and organizational skills
-Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff

Preferred:
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership or Administration
- Previous experience as a Dean of Students or other Administrative role
- State certification (040 or 045)
- Experience with attendance intervention programs and McKinney-Vento protocols

- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and de-escalation techniques
