Location: Stoneham Public Schools

Employment Type: Full-Time (260 Days), Individual Contract

Salary Range: $60,000- $75,000

Effective Date: As soon as possible

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Director of Human Resources and is responsible for executing daily HR functions, managing collective bargaining agreements, facilitating onboarding processes, and performing other administrative duties within the department. Additionally, the Human Resources Generalist contributes to fostering a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive workplace environment for all employees.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works collaboratively with the Director of Human Resources and administrators to advance a district-wide strategy that promotes a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Performs administrative and clerical duties necessary to complete objectives of the position, including but not limited to answering the phone, creating documents and spreadsheets, and maintaining relevant electronic and paper files.
Collaborates effectively with Principals and other administrators to coordinate the recruitment and hiring processes, ensuring fairness and equity in all procedures and outcomes.
Provides ongoing and sustained human resource support to assist the Principal, and other administrators with the day-to-day operation of their areas, and refers complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate administrator.
Acts as the primary point of contact for all matters related to day-to-day human resources inquiries.
Acts as a resource for all Stoneham Public Schools staff.
Verifies that new hires and current employees possess all requisite licenses from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Maintains the management of personnel files.
Reviews and processes all attendance requests.
Manages Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other leaves of absence requests, in compliance with applicable law and District policy.
Works cooperatively with the Director of Finance & Operations and payroll staff to ensure accurate information is processed in a timely manner.
Manages the criminal background check process for all staff, volunteers, and subcontractors.
Ensures compliance with the educator and support staff evaluation system.
Manages position control and vacancy advertisement for the district.
Responsible for knowing all CBAs.
Manages educator level changes in accordance with the respective Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
All other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of a high school diploma or an associate degree
Experience in public school human resources- Preferred
Two (2) to four (4) years of experience as an administrative assistant
Strong communication skills
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

In 2003, the Town completed a $45 million renovation of its four elementary schools and a $40 million Central Middle School project began construction in 2012. The new Central Middle School will open in the fall of 2014 and house grades 5-8.
