The Cheltenham School District announces the following career opportunity to join the administrative team of Cheltenham School District:

Position Title: High School Dean
Location: High School
Reports To: High School Principal

Terms: 12 month, 260 days as per CASSA Agreement
FLSA Status: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The High School Dean supports the principal in fostering a safe, positive and academically
focused school environment. The Dean works collaboratively with students, staff, families, and community partners to promote student achievement, attendance, behavior, and social-emotional well-being. The position provides leadership in student discipline, restorative practices, school culture, and student support systems while helping ensure a respectful and inclusive learning environment for all students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the implementation of school policies, procedures, and student code of conduct.
  • Promote a positive school climate focused on student engagement, accountability, and achievement.
  • Address student behavioral concerns using restorative and progressive discipline practices.
  • Collaborate with counselors, teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop intervention plans for students.
  • Monitor student attendance, punctuality, and academic progress; implement strategies to improve outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and community agencies to support student success.
  • Assist with supervision of student activities, extracurricular events, arrival/dismissal, and common areas.
  • Participate in crisis response, conflict resolution, and student support meetings as needed.
  • Support equity-centered practices and foster an inclusive school culture that values diversity and belonging.
  • Maintain accurate student discipline and attendance records in accordance with district policies and state regulations.
  • Assist in coordinating student recognition programs, assemblies, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with administrators on school improvement efforts and student support programming.
  • Participate in professional development and leadership activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification.
  • PA teaching certification in secondary education, counseling, supervisory, or related area preferred.
  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Counseling, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with high school students in an educational setting required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student discipline practices, restorative approaches, and adolescent development.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively while managing multiple responsibilities and priorities.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
  • Experience with restorative practices, PBIS, MTSS, and student attendance initiatives preferred.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and behavioral intervention strategies preferred

  • Respond appropriately to student needs and emergencies, including timely action to ensure student health and safety
  • Use technology, manipulate materials, and demonstrate tasks to support student learning
