New London Local Schools is seeking a responsible and reliable individual to join our team as a School Van Driver. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, ensuring their well-being and maintaining a positive and respectful atmosphere within the school van.
Responsibilities:
- Safe Transportation: Safely operate a school van to transport students to and from school, following all traffic laws and regulations.
- Student Welfare: Ensure the well-being and safety of students during transportation, including the use of appropriate safety measures and protocols.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine pre and post-trip inspections of the school van to ensure it is in proper working condition. Report any issues or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with school staff, parents, and students to address any concerns or issues related to transportation.
- Adherence to Ohio Regulations: Ensure compliance with all Ohio Department of Education and state regulations regarding school van transportation.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of daily trips, including mileage, pick-up, and drop-off times, and any incidents or issues that may arise.
- Emergency Procedures: Be prepared to respond appropriately in case of emergencies or unexpected situations during transportation.
- Valid Ohio driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Completion of the required Ohio Department of Education training for school van drivers.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
- Prior experience in transportation, especially with school-age children, is preferred.
