• Arrives prepared to start working on time. Follows established sign in/out procedures.
• Complies with program and/or building work hours/schedules.
• Performs clinic duties that support the effective delivery of school health services.
• Maintains an orderly health clinic (e.g., sanitizes/stores equipment, stock supplies, etc.)
• Assists with year-end inventory records as directed
• Collects and maintains student health records (e.g., immunization status, medical histories, etc.)
• Maintains an effective records management system. Files and retrieves information
• Maintains parent consent forms (e.g., administration of medications, emergency treatment, etc.).
• Assists with the security of stored medicine. Compares consent forms with medications to identify
discrepancies. Administers student medications under the supervision of the school nurse.
TUES / THURS / FRI - 8:30AM - 3:00PM
• Performs health screening procedures. (e.g., vision, hearing, scoliosis, pediculosis, etc.).
• Assists with immunization programs.
• Assists ill staff/students. Notifies parents/guardians when a student needs to be sent home.
• Responds to requests for assistance. Helps with student health, safety and personal care procedures
(e.g., medication administration, catheterization, tube feeding, changing clothing, diapering, toileting, etc.).
• Assist with diabetic care (e.g., monitoring blood glucose levels, giving insulin, etc.)
• Train appropriate staff in medication administration for field trips or when they are out of the building
(e.g. emergency medications such as inhalers, epipens, glucagon, etc.)
• Train kitchen/cafeteria staff on choking and first aid
• Conducts a patient assessment when the school nurse is not available. Administer emergency first aid.
Documents care provided and medical supplies used. Initiates steps for rapid response transportation
to a treatment facility when needed.
• Consults with parents as needed (e.g., phone calls, e-mail, written notes, meetings, etc.).
Job Requirements
Valid and active LPN required.
• Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
• Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts responsibility for personal decisions/conduct.
• Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) or similar training may be required for some assignments.
Physical Demands: Duties may require providing physical assistance to students.
NOTE: Successful completion of annual continuing education/on-line training is required. Blood-borne
pathogen/communicable disease, child abuse/neglect, CPR and/or first aid/injury prevention training
may be required as a condition of employment.
Duties may require traveling to buildings throughout the district. May also be required to travel to cover
procedures at other district buildings.
