Position: Tradesman (Anticipated) General Maintenance

Schedule: Full-Time (8 hours/day, 260 days/year)

Salary: $32.01 Per Hour ($33.01 hr. after probationary period)

This position is to provide students and employees with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to work, learn, play, and develop. This position works with a minimum of direction. The position of General Maintenance Mechanic is to provide students and employees with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to work, learn, play, and develop. They are also responsible for inspecting, installing, and doing repairs of all equipment in assigned area and under the direction of the Maintenance Manager or Director of Facilities.

Essential Functions:
  • Perform a variety of carpentry work assignments. Construct, alter, or repair woodwork and wood projects. Projects may include door and window installation, cabinets, counter tops, partitions, bookcases, blackboards, markerboards, and bulletin board construction and/or installation.
  • Must be familiar with International Building codes and how to apply them.
  • Inspect facilities, systems, and their components for the purpose of ensuring safety and identifying necessary repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventive maintenance
  • Know how to read and use blueprints.
  • Work and practice safety at all times.
  • Perform all work in a workmanship-like manner, clean up after each job, maintain tools in good order, keep vehicle assigned to him/her in a clean and orderly condition, inform his/her supervisor of materials needed to be ordered for that trade.
  • Remodel office and workspace for the purpose of ensuring safe and efficient utilization of space.
  • Must work in a team environment.
  • Setup and operate in a safe manner, all wood working machinery and hand tools
  • Install and/or repair acoustical tile ceilings.
  • Install and/or repair all floor surfaces
  • Familiarity with the use of hand tools, power hand tools, larger power tools, and machines.
  • Repair and perform preventive maintenance on facility roof systems.
  • Install windows, doors, partitions, and mirrors as needed.
  • Install insulation, weather-stripping and caulking as required.
  • Install and/or repair various types of floor coverings (VCT, carpet, hardwood, etc).
  • Install concrete forms and pours and finishes concrete as needed.
  • Install and repair panic hardware and door closures and all other door-related hardware.
  • Repair and replace bathroom partitions, doors, and associated hardware
  • Maintain a locksmith shop, including all associated equipment, keys and key blanks, ensuring that the area, equipment, and key inventory is secure.
  • Keep accurate record of repairs made and materials used.
  • Perform tasks as assigned by immediate Supervisor/ Manager
  • Complete all paperwork and electronic workorders in a legible and efficient manner. Update workorders Daily
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Respond to emergency related requests (Emergency Calls) during and after regular work hours and on weekends as needed.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Carpentry skills are required.

Experience in HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing preferred.
