Title: Director - Business Operations

Reports To: Executive Director of Human Resources

Employment Status: Full-Time

Terms of Employment: 260 Days

FLSA Status: Exempt

Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree in education, accounting, business or related field. (Master's degree preferred).

2. Three to five years of related business management experience

3. Valid Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Business Manager License

or other administrative license and/or the ability to obtain such license

4. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate, orally and in written

form, with District staff, parents, external contractors, vendors, county,

township and village officials, and others in the exchange of information.

5. Project management skills necessary to successfully implement a variety of

capital improvement projects

6. Computer skills necessary to maintain various departmental records,

documents, and reports

7. Analytical ability and mathematical aptitude to forecast financial

requirements and prepare financial analyses

8. Supervisory skills to effectively manage the daily operations and

administration of assigned function(s).

9. Mental ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands,

resolve problem situations in a positive manner, and respond to emergency

situations.

10. Physical ability to conduct building site visits.

Definition: The Director of Business Operations will work directly with the Superintendent, Treasurer, and Executive Director of Human Resources to oversee the Facilities/Maintenance, Food Service, and Transportation departments to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and the community.

Essential Functions:
General Oversight of Classified Departments:Supervises Facilities & Maintenance, Food Service, and Transportation department coordinators through regular observation and evaluationSupports coordinators in their selection, assignment, and scheduling of personnelProvides appropriate orientation and training to staffCoordinates and conducts regular leadership team meetings within departmentDevelops and implements departmental goals, operational standards, policies, and procedures; revises departmental work systems and procedures as necessary to improve the efficiency and productivity of the departmentsFacility and Capital Improvement Projects:Identifies and communicates to the Superintendent all short and long-term facility and equipment needs for each building within the District, including capital improvementsWorks with Coordinator of Facilities & Maintenance to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the maintenance, repair, and enhancements of the District's buildings, grounds and equipmentMaintains compliance with related regulatory standards and permitsContracts services for repair and construction projects; responds to contractor issuesReviews all contract documents and recommends changes as appropriateConducts site visits to monitor progress of various facilities projects and maintain compliance with established plans, contract specifications, schedules, permit requirements, and related regulatory standards; initiates corrective action as necessaryAttends internal/external meetings relating to building projectsEstablishes and maintaining internal and external communications to keep appropriate individuals informed of the status of building renovation and construction projectsCompletes required documentation and reportsSafety and ComplianceDirects the development, implementation and monitoring of an effective strategy to mitigate risk, maintain continuity of operations, and provide for the safety and security of all students, staff and visitorsCoordinates school safety compliance with federal, state and local regulations, including filing of required reportsConducts building site visits as needed to assure safe conditions and compliance with cleanliness, health and safety standards; initiates corrective action as necessaryContributes to team effort by integrating safety, security and emergency preparedness measures into the organization's daily practices in a manner supportive of other departments and functionsWorks collaboratively with Hamilton County, Anderson Township and Village of Newtown emergency responders, including fire and police, as well as county, township and village officials, to respond to and enhance safety/security in the districtSupports the Director of Student Services in all District safety initiatives, including regular coordination with emergency responders and School Resource Officers (SROs)Maintains a budget to support the District's necessary safety and security capital improvementsBudget and Operations:Prepares the annual department budget for approval by the SuperintendentMonitors expenditures to ensure all are within the approved budgetCommunicates personnel and equipment needs of the department to the Executive Director of Human ResourcesOtherPerforms other duties as assigned
