Summary:
The Coordinator, School Health Services, will assist the supervisor in performing administrative duties of the department. The Coordinator, School Health Services, will collaborate with other administrators, staff, parents, community agencies, and practitioners to meet the needs of students. The Coordinator, School Health Services, reports directly to the Supervisor of School Health Services.
Responsibilities:
• Provides supervision to the medical doctors, advanced registered nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, health assistants, and other professionals and paraprofessionals employed by the school district.

• Assesses, identifies, and interprets the health needs of the school population.

• Organizes health protection programs, such as immunization, health screening, and communicable disease monitoring and testing in cooperation with the Hillsborough County Public Health Department.

• Assumes the responsibility of coordinating the daily activities between the district and the Public Health Department.

• Serves as the staff representative and permanent member of the School District Health Advisory Committee.

• Compiles annual and periodic reports pertaining to School Health Services.

• Coordinates activities and workload in the office.
Assists with the development and delivery of training and on-going assistance.

• Oversees use of the department budget and assures availability of appropriate supplies for personnel.

• Assists with the organization, management, and coordination of the operations of the department.

• Serves as a liaison between the district and various community groups and agencies.

• Provides status reports and projections.

• Oversees the daily operations of the department, including assignment of work to personnel and monitoring the quality of work accomplished.

• Maintains a program of good public relations through cooperation with other district and school level personnel, and through participation in appropriate local, state, and national organizations.

• Performs any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

Education: A master's degree is required. Formal training as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Registered Nurse (RN) is required. Doctorate (Ph.D. or DNP) is preferred.

Experience: Three (3) years of school nursing or school nurse practitioner experience is preferred. Two (2) years of related management or supervisory experience is preferred.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: State of Florida License, or Multistate License that includes Florida, as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse is required.

Language Skills: Reads and interprets general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Writes reports, correspondence, and manuals. Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public.

Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.

Lifting Demands: Up to 10 pounds.

Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.

Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity 3, moderate.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires traveling to various school sites, work locations and/or community organizations throughout the district.

SUPERVISORY EXPECTATIONS: Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
